(Engineering Daily) Nguyen Anh Duong reporter = The Thai Binh 2 thermal power plant construction project is drawing keen attention.

Local sources said Tran Sy Thanh, chairman of Petro Vietnam, recently asked the government for government permission to resume the Thai Binh 2 power plant project.

The Thai Binh 2 plant is a power plant with 1.2 GW power generation capacity with a total project cost of $1.8 billion and has been under way since 2011.

But the project itself has been suspended after some executives were arrested on illegal charges in the EPC process.

The current process rate is reportedly 84%.

However, it is expected that it will take a considerable period of time to normalize the construction even if it is resumed, as the suspension of the construction has been prolonged.

As a result, attention is being paid to what the Vietnamese government will conclude in the future.
