Vietnam Van Phong Coal Power Plant Construction Start

(Engineering Daily) Nguyen Anh Duong = Construction of a large coal power plant in Vietnam is expected to begin.

According to local sources in Vietnam, the ground-breaking ceremony for the Van Phong coal power plant recently took place.

Van Phong Coal Power Plant is a 1.3GW supercritical power plant, a project carried out by Japan's Sumitomo Corp. under the Build-Operate-Transfer method.

The project is estimated to cost $2.58 billion in total and will serve as the largest power plant in the region after completion.

The EPC on related projects will be joined by Japan's Toshiba ESS, IHI, CTCI and Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction, with Toshiba ESS to be in charge of design and commissioning.
