Vietnam to prepare for climate change at a cost of $142 million

According to local sources in Vietnam, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will spend a total of $142.17 million to improve the environment, including a related system in the province of Kien Giang.

The plan will be applied to 3,800㎢ of Cai Lon and Cai Be, located in the Mekong Delta, to prepare for flooding and topographical changes caused by rising sea levels.

The Vietnamese government said it plans to make full-fledged investments in related projects and complete them by 2021.

Currently, 39% of the Mekong Delta is expected to be lost in 2100, prompting the Vietnamese government to step up efforts to prevent it.
