(Engineering Daily) Nguyen Anh Duong = The Vietnamese government is speeding up the construction of a new airport.

According to sources in Vietnam, Vietnam's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has approved the construction of the Sa Pa airport.

The newly built Sa Pa airport will build a new airport in northern Lao Cai state, with a runway 2,400m long and 45m wide, making it possible for A320 aircraft to take off and land.

The Vietnamese government aims to complete the project by 2021, and plans to expand the 3,050m runway and additional passenger terminals by 2030 if demand rises later.

Meanwhile, the budget for related projects is estimated to total $254 million, of which $133 million will be raised by local governments and $76.2 million from private sectors.
