Vietnam Railroad Corp. is going to phase out old vehicles

(Engineering Daily) Nguyen Anh Duong = Replacement of old trains running in Vietnam is expected.

According to sources in Vietnam, VNR(Vietnam Railways) announced plans to purchase new trains.

A total of 300 new trains will be purchased by 2023.

According to the Vietnam Railroad Act, the need to replace old trains has been increasing as passenger trains are required to maintain their life span of 40 years and cargo trains are required to maintain their 45-year lifespan.

In addition, 115 of the 257 trains in operation have been used for less than 20 years, but 18 have been used for 20 to 30 years, 89 for 30 to 40 years and 45 for more than 40 years, the survey showed.

VNR is reportedly seeking to purchase the Lease method for related businesses and is coordinating with companies in related fields overseas.
