(Engineering Daily) Nguyen Anh Duong = The cost pressure of the highway project to be built in southern Vietnam is increasing.

Estimated costs for the HCMC-Moc Bai highway construction project are increasing, according to local sources in Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City estimated the cost of the HCMC-Moc Bai highway project to be around $462 million in 2019, but reported a report to the central government that it could now increase by $129 million to $591 million.

The reason for this rapid increase in project costs is that the amount of compensation for the additional project plans and land expropriated continues to rise.

As a result, there is a growing need to make additional financial plans for the project, which was approved in October.

The HCMC-Moc Bai highway project is a private highway project aimed at opening in 2025, which is expected to help complete the southern core economic zone by connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Cambodia.
