Ho Chi Minh City seeks contractors for Metro line No. 2

HANOI, NOVEMBER 22 (Engieering Daily) -- The HCM City Management Authority for Urban Railways has held a bidding seminar on 21st and 22nd November 2016 to introduce to contractors the chances to participate in the Metro line No. 2 section Ben Thanh – Tham Luong.

The project will develop 12km of railway including 10.3 km of boring and excavation route, 1.7 km of overhead route, 9 underground stations, as well as installation of one maintenance house and 10 new 3-carriage trains for operation.

The project has 9 packages, of which 2 packages will be held a bidding seminar, CP3a (estimated USD 640 million) and CP3b (estimated USD 500 million).  These 2 packages will be planned for contractor selection in February 2017. According to Mr. Le Nguyen Minh Quang, head of HCM City Management Authority for Urban Railways, packages CP3a and CP3b will be launched under an international competitive bidding. Therefore, the bidding seminar is considered as an opportunity for local and foreign contractors to impress expression and collect the information of project as well as packages.

The bidding seminar for Metro line No. 2 attracted nearly 100 contractors specialized in infrastructure construction from big local and oversea groups. In the seminar, there were many foreign contractors such as Shimizu Corporation; Dealim Industrial Co., Ltd.; Deawoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.; Samsung Engineering; POSCO E&C… impressing their expression to the packages.
