HANOI, June 19 (Engineering Daily) -- After more than two years implementing the Technical Cooperation Project of "Capacity enhancement on cost estimation, contract, quality and safety management in construction investment projects in Vietnam", contractor’s capacity in general and the contractor's contract management ability in particular have improved.

The above comment was presented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) representative at a seminar held on 16 June in Hanoi with the topic of training on construction project management. The workshop is an activity within the framework of the Technical Cooperation Project mentioned above.

The two main contents mentioned at the workshop were contractor and its contract management capacity assessment. Evaluating the contractor and contract management ability in Vietnam, JICA said that although improvements have been made, the quality of project management and safety management in construction is still poor, the accident still happens.

Contracts of construction projects have not been effectively managed, leading to many disputes, causing difficulties in the project implementation.

The project will help Vietnam to improve the capacity of its staff and related units to participate in the construction project, thereby helping to manage construction projects in Vietnam in accordance with international standards.
