HANOI, October 17 (Engineering Daily) -- Me So Bridge and approach roads, which have a total length of 13.8km and a width of 17m, connect Highway No. 1 with Hanoi – Hai Phong expressway.

Hanoi People's Committee has requested the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Transport to consider and guide procedures and investment scale for the project to invest in the construction of Me So Bridge and the two approach roads in the Ring Road 4 based on the planning of the Hanoi capital region under the form of BOT.

This is an investment project proposal of Phuong Thanh Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company and Nguyen Minh Company Joint Venture. This investor would like to build Me So Bridge and approach roads with a total length of 13.8 km and a width of 17m connecting National Highway 1 with Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway.

According to Hanoi People's Committee, in order to refund the project with a total investment of VND 4,881 billion, the investor is entitled to collect fees at Me So Bridge on the east of Van Giang district, Hung Yen province for a period of 22 years and 11 months.

Earlier in September 2015, the Joint Venture of T&T Group and Phu My Construction Company Limited also submitted a proposal to invest in the construction of the Ring Road 4 section Phap Van - Cau Gie to Ha Noi - Hai Phong Expressway (Phase I) in the form of BOT contract. However, up to now there has been no further information on the output of this Joint Venture.

According to the detailed plan, the Ring Road 4 section of the South of National Highway 18 was approved by the Prime Minister. And the section from the Phap Van - Cau Gie Highway through Me So Bridge to the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway crossing Hanoi and Hung Yen Province was required to invest first, since it was scheduled to be completed before 2017. When finished, it will connect the two highways which have the largest flow in the North, sharing and reducing the load for inner city traffic especially in the East and South gateway area of the Hanoi city.
