HANOI, January 2 (Engineering Daily) -- Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is facing many environmental problems, including the treatment of urban waste in large quantities and diversity. Therefore, HCMC is calling for investment in waste treatment with some benefits such as supporting all loan interest, exemption of import tax and land lease.

Furthermore, the city has managed solid wastes of household, industry, medical and construction in recent years. Landfill is an inappropriate method, affecting the surface water, groundwater, air and land environment.

Recently, daily-life waste is about 8,700 tons, not including medical and industrial waste. More than 10,000 tons is forecasted in 2020, and nearly 13,000 tons in 2025.

The city wants to have smart and efficient waste treatment plants. The city will organize public tenders and select suitable solid waste treatment projects, and at the same time there will be incentive policies for enterprises investing in this area.

Garbages in the city have high humidity and leakage of water, therefore finding technology is also more difficult. And it is not easy to classify garbage at the source. In addition, as population in the city increases, the amount of waste will be more and more.

The city is willing to support the investors on the basis of the real situation. HCMC People's Committee has directed the relevant departments to guide investors to invest in the city.

It is expected that in early 2018, HCMC will hold a tender to select investors with advanced technology for waste treatment for the city.
