P193.5m Roxas Bypass Road in Isabela to start in Early 2018

Manila, March 16 (Engineering Daily) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), following consultative meetings with affected stakeholders, will commence the construction of Roxas Bypass Road Project in Isabela province before the end of this March.

DPWH Region 2 Director Melanio C. Briosos said the project which will be a 4.95-kilometer alternative road to the busy Santiago-Tugeugarao Road, starting from Barangay San Antonio to Barangay Nuesa and traversing Barangays San Rafael, Facoma, and Bantug.

“For Phase 1, a total of P50 million was allocated for the opening and concreting of the 1.52-kilometer section of Roxas Bypass Road Project, with components of drainage, slope protection, and right-of-way acquisition. We aim to start this before the end of first quarter this year,” said Director Briosos.

Director Briosos added that the diversion road which will be implemented from 2018 to 2020 will cost a total of P193.5 million, covering P50 million each on Phase 1 and Phase 2, and P93 million for the third and last phase.

The Phase 2 of the project which will be funded in 2019 will cover the opening and concreting of another 1.49-kilometer section, including drainage, slope protection, and right-of-way acquisition while Phase 3 in 2020 will involve 1.93-kilometer road opening, concreting and drainage, including an 18-lineal meter bridge, slope protection, and right-of-way component.
