Consultant selection for Pre-Feasibility Study Report for Metro line No.5 in HCMC

HANOI, May 25 (Engineering Daily) -- The Prime Minister has approved the policy of hiring a foreign consultant or a consortium of domestic and foreign consultants to verify the pre-feasibility study report of the investment project on the construction of Metro line 5, Ho Chi Minh City, Phase 1 (Bay Hien crossroads - Sai Gon bridge).

The Prime Minister has assigned the Minister of Planning and Investment and the Chairman of the State Evaluation Council to decide on the selection of verification consultants strictly according to regulations; At the same time, the Ministries' announcements will be mobilized to maximize efficiency and savings in hiring consultants.

Metro line 5 is one of the eight routes of the urban railway network in HCMC with a total length of about 26 km, starting from Can Giuoc new bus station, ending at the Saigon bridge. In phase I, the route will be 8.9 km from Bay Hien crossroads - Saigon bridge.

This is also the metro line with a total investment of EUR 156.27 million and has the longest implementation period in Vietnam (prepared from 2009 to 2019, implemented from 2020 to 2025, warranty, testing and commissioning from 2025 to 2027).

According to the design, the Metro line 5 will be connected with the Metro line 2 at Bay Hien station (Tan Binh district); with Metro Line 4 at Phu Nhuan crossroads (Phu Nhuan district) and Tan Son Nhat airport (Tan Binh district); with Metro line 3b at Hang Xanh Station (Binh Thanh District) and with Metro No. 1 at Sai Gon Bridge Station (Binh Thanh District).
