HANOI, June 25 (Engineering Daily) -- Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has asked authorities to select architectural design for Can Gio bridge project (connecting Nha Be and Can Gio districts) to prepare construction.
Located on the 7.4 km route, 3.4 km long Can Gio bridge with 4 lanes and clearance of 55m for boat will replace Binh Khanh ferry, connecting Can Gio district with the center and the surrounding areas. From here it forms a direct route to the southern coastal city.

Can Gio bridge has a starting point at the intersection of highway 15B and highway 2 (Phu Xuan urban area, Nha Be district). The end point connects Rung Sac road at the point about 1.8 km south of Binh Khanh ferry (Binh Khanh commune, Can Gio district).

The bridge coincides with highway 15B, crossing Nguyen Binh road (Nha Be district) and Soai Rap river to Can Gio district. Then the bridge turns east, goes parallel with the 220 KV power line, continues crossing Cha river and connects to Rung Sac road.

The project is proposed to the Prime Minister by the HCMC People's Committee to be built under a BOT-BT combination contract with total estimated capital of VND 5,300 billion.
In August 2016, the Prime Minister approved the policy and assigned the Ministry of Transport to review and supplement it into the planning of transport development in HCMC until 2020 and the vision after 2020 as the basis for implementation.
