DOE, Start Encouraging PEP to RDCs

Manila, November 6 (Engineering Daily) -- The Philippine Energy Plan 2017-2040(PEP) has been promoted by the Department of Energy(DOE) for reserving the Philippine's energy needs over the next three decades. ( Regional Development Councils (RDCs) around the country)

PEP 2017-2040 is a comprehensive roadmap of programs and projects of energy sector to ensure sustainable and reasonably-priced energy. It is visioned to have comfortable and secure life for Filipinos by 2040.

Its goals include 100 percent electrification in the nation by 2022; LNG needs for anticipated depletion of Malampaya; delivery of PSALM(Power Sectors Asset and Liabilities Management Corp) privatization;

Assistant Regional Director Carmencita A. Bariso, of DOE’s Energy Policy and Planning Bureau, said they are encouraging RDCs to come up with a resolution supporting the PEP and to integrate it to their local plans.

“As of the moment, we are still in the process of introducing the plans to RDCs in the country. We hope they accept it and contribute their efforts into it so that we can attain our targets,” Bariso added.

The Regional Development Council (RDC) is the highest planning and policy-making body in the region of Philippine. It is the primary institution that coordinates and sets the direction of all economic and social development efforts in the region.
