HANOI, July 5 (Engineering Daily) -- On July 2, at the meeting of the Government with localities, Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung asked the Government for permission to build a bridge over the sea connecting Hai Phong and Cat Hai island with a total investment of VND 7,000 billion, by city budget.
Explaining the proposal to build a second sea-going bridge in parallel with Tan Vu - Lach Huyen bridge, Mr. Tung said that Cat Hai island district has become a very exciting development area with Hai Phong international gateway port and automobile production factory in operation. The Tan Vu - Lach Huyen was put into operation in September, 2017 but the condition of the overload appeared.
The 5.44 km long Tan Vu - Lach Huyen bridge connecting Dinh Vu peninsula with Cat Hai district (Hai Phong) was inaugurated in September 2017. This is the longest sea-going bridge in Vietnam and South East Asia, with a total investment capital of VND 11,850 billion.
