Hanoi, January 2 (Engineering Daily) -- The railway connecting Hanoi and Saigon is waiting to be constructed and this will shorten the travel time from 24 to 5 hours.
The track route unrolls from Hanoi Railway Station to Thu Thiem Station in HCMC and this stretches 1,545km long. The construction is divided into 2 phases. In the first phase, 282km Hanoi-Vinh and 362km Nha Trang-HCMC sections should be built in 2020-2030 and the commercial operation would begin in 2032. The second phase connecting Vinh and Nha Trang would be proceeded 2030-2045 years.
The Hanoi~Saigon railway project amounts to USD58.7 billion in total. This is undertaken as Public Private Partnership(PPP) with the government fund accounting for 80% of the cost.
