(Engineering Daily) Nguyen Anh Duong reporter: Steel safeguard measures being taken by the Vietnamese government have been put to the test by extension or sunset.

According to local sources on Wednesday, Vietnam's Fair Remedies Authority (TRAV), Vietnam's Fair Trade Authority, is considering extending safeguard measures against imported steel products.

The measure was decided in July 2016 and was taken until March 2020, with import restrictions imposed on intermediate and pre-finished goods.

The TRAV is said to have conducted a month-long survey in June of whether the company wanted to take a safeguard measure or not

It has been conducting a 30-day review since July 4 and will submit related details to the Commerce Department.

Meanwhile, Vietnam imported $4.97 billion worth of steel products in the first half of this year, followed by China, South Korea and Japan, the report showed.
