(Engineering Daily) Nguyen Anh Duong = Conflicts are growing over Vietnam's ODA subway business from China, which has been increasing without a commitment.

According to local sources on Thursday, Vietnam's Transport Ministry demanded six Chinese companies that are currently working on the Cat Linh-Ha Dong subway project to make the completion date official.

The Cat Linh-Ha Dong subway project runs over a 13㎞ section and has spent a total of $553 million since 2011 to target home operations in 2016.

However, the ongoing delay in the project due to China's problems has also cost more than $860 million, while failing to keep the company's plan to open in April this year

Vietnam's Transport Ministry is said to be in talks with the Chinese government to come up with a solution to the problem.

Meanwhile, industry sources say that business normalization will not be easy despite the Vietnamese government's efforts.

This is because it takes a considerable amount of time already and the economic efficiency of the project has also been lowered as the cost of the project has increased significantly, making it impossible to guarantee the possibility of the operator going on with the project to the end

In addition, the problem of operation and maintenance may continue to arise even after the opening of the service.

As a result, attention is being paid to what decision the Vietnamese government will make on related projects.
