HANOI, APRIL 11 (Engineering Daily) -- Until 2022, Ministry of Transport plans to invest to build newly or upgrade 684 km of expressway with total capital of VND 140,116 billion.
The Ministry of Transport has submitted to the Prime Minister the verification of feasibility study report of the North-South expressway investment. Mr. Pham Huu Son, General Director of Transport Engineering Design Inc (TEDI) (the project consulting firm) said that the project shall be divided into 3 phases in order to ensure the investment efficiency.
The new construction and upgrading in the first phase until 2022 is 684 km long; total investment of more than VND 140,116 billion, including government capital of about VND 55,000 billion for site clearance, relocation of resident and construction and remaining is socialization capital.
In particular, the transport sector will newly build 603 km of section Mai Son (Ninh Binh province) – Bai Vot (Ha Tinh province); Cam Lam (Khanh Hoa province) – Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan province) under PPP model; section Cam Lo (Quang Tri province) – La Son (Thua Thien Hue province) under BT model with 4 lane scale and 17 wide road.
Section Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan province) – Dau Giay (Dong Nai province) will be invested under PPP, with 4 expressway lane scale and 25 m wide road.
In addition, 81 km of section Cao Bo (Nam Dinh province) – Mai Son (Ninh Binh province) and La Son (Thua Thien Hue province) shall be widened from 2 lane to 4 lane.
The Phase 2 is planned to build the remaining from 2023 to 2038 to connect thoroughly the North – South expressway, including Bai Vot (Ha Tinh province) – Cam Lo (Quang Tri province) and Quang Ngai – Cam Lam (Khanh Hoa province) with 4 expressway lane scale and 17 m wide road. The Phase 2 construction is 688 km long with total investment of VND 103,119 billion estimated.
