HANOI, June 26 (Engineering Daily) -- The World Bank (WB) has approved a $ 300 million grant from the International Development Association (IDA) to help Vietnam to improve transport links in rural Central Highlands and forest protection in 8 coastal provinces.
Accordingly, the two new projects will receive grants including the Central Highlands connectivity improvement and the forest sector modernization and coastal resilience enhancement projects.
"This is an investment into Vietnam's future. WB fully supports Vietnam in its efforts to strengthen capacity to cope with climate change and serve the needs of people and businesses", said Ousmane Dione, WB Country Director for Viet Nam.
Of the $ 300 million, half of the proceeds will be spent on the project to increase traffic connections to rehabilitate 142 kilometers of National Highway No. 19 and improve traffic safety and disaster preparedness. The remaining $ 150 million will help to manage coastal forests in provinces of Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong.
