HANOI, October 2 (Engineering Daily) -- Hanoi People's Committee has proposed to build more T3 and T4 terminals next to T1 and T2 terminals.
The Hanoi People's Committee has just submitted a report to the Prime Minister on the results of the socio-economic development in the first nine months of the year, of which proposed many mechanisms for tourism development.
Accordingly, the Hanoi People's Committee has proposed that the Government shall pay attention to direct investment projects of T3 and T4 Noi Bai International Airport and consider opening direct flights from countries and key international tourist areas.
At the same time, the Government shall increase the visa exemption period from 15 days to 30 days to suit the needs of tourists, especially tourists from distant markets such as Western Europe.
Recently, Noi Bai International Airport has T1 and T2 terminals. The goal of expanding T3 and T4 terminals is to develop airport infrastructure to serve about 50 to 75 million passengers.
Previously, Hanoi Party Secretary Hoang Trung Hai said: "We find that the land of Noi Bai is larger than Tan Son Nhat International Airport. But if it does not work right then it will be like Tan Son Nhat now because the speed of urbanization is very fast, about 30-40%”.
Noi Bai Airport has a total capacity of 25 million passengers per year. In 2015, T2 terminal was put into operation and all T1 stations only operated domestic customers with maximum capacity of 8 million passengers per year. However, T1 quickly faces the problem of overload when receiving tens of millions of visitors each year.
According to the Hanoi Transport Plan until 2030 with a vision to 2050, Noi Bai International Airport shall be upgraded to be a major international airport in the North.
By 2020, Noi Bai shall reach the level of airport 4E with passenger traffic reaching 20-25 million passengers per year. By 2030, Noi Bai International Airport can receive 35 million passengers per year and after 2030 50 million passengers per year.
