HANOI, March 1 (Engineering Daily) -- According to a spokesperson for the Quang Ninh provincial People's Committee, Mr. Vu Van Hop, Quang Ninh has approved a feasibility study for the Van Don-Mong Cai Expressway project in February 2018 and is selecting investors to start construction in the early quarter III of this year.
The Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway project is built in the form of BOT, with a total length of 80.2 km, including 4 lanes. This is a completely new route, passing through the mountainous districts, in parallel with the current Highway No. 18.
Previously, there were proposals for ODA loans to implement the project, but Quang Ninh province requested to mobilize capital and to accelerate the progress to connect with a series of new expressways in Quang Ninh finished in near future.
According to Mr. Vu Van Hop, the steps such as environmental impact assessment report preparation, compensation and construction site plan review, and approval of feasibility study reports have been completed and submitted to relevant ministries.
The total investment capital of project is about VND 11.195 trillion, down about VND 5 trillion compared to previous estimates. It is expected that the Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway will be completed in 2020. Along with other highways are being deployed, such as Hai Phong - Ha Long, Ha Long - Van Don, Quang Ninh will have the largest highway network in the country - nearly 200 km.
