Manila, November 1 (Engineering Daily) -- The Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway project is waiting to be approved of its pre-feasibility study by the Ministry of Transport. The pre-feasibility study is anticipated strongly for it being a complement to National Road 22.
The National Road 22 is currently a single road connecting HCM City with the Moc Bai border gate. The road provides overland access to Southeast Asia such as Cambodia and Thailand. But it's calculated that the number of vehicles using it will increase by 8 – 10 percent a year.
The cost to proceed the project is contemplated to involve PPP, ODA, and government funding of Vietnam altogether. Individually, VND 5.4 trillion(USD 235 million) comes from PPP, VND 5 trillion(USD 217 million) from the government funding, and VND 2.9 trillion(USD 126 million) from ODA.
Currently, the one task the project has to overcome is acquisition of the land where it needs 342 hectares and the resolution to the task is to impose penalty on localities for delay.
