Hanoi, December 24 (Engineering Daily) -- The Da Nang city has approved a master plan to develop logistics infrastructure by 2030 which amounts to USD606 million.
The plan focuses on Da Nang because of its geographical advantage. It is situated at the end of the East-West Economic Corridor(EWEC) that links Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar. In addition, it is adjacent to the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway as well as the North-South Vietnam national highway and railway system.
The city will allocate 312ha. of land for logistics infrastructure with a series of linked roads, railway sections, a cargo airport, sea port as well as the national expressway system.
Following the plan, the railway and sea port systems will handle the total cargos by 55% and by 50% respectively in 2045. Especially, Lien Chieu Port is to be developed as an integrated port and a key ASEAN cargo destination in the first stage of the plan (2019-22).
Meanwhile, the railway and sea port systems in Da Nang city accommodate 20,000 tonnes and 12 million tonnes of cargo separately each year.
