HANOI, AUGUST 8 (Egineering Daily) -- Hung Yen province People’s Committee has sent the written proposal to Ministry of Transport to propose to invest, build and upgrade the intercity highway Hanoi-Hung Yen from Highway 1 in Thanh Tri bridge intersection to Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway in Ly Thuong Kiet intersection connecting Highway 39 and road linking Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway with Cau Gie-Ninh Binh expressway.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Chairman of Hung Yen Province People’s Committee, the intercity highway Hanoi – Hung Yen is 21.km long linking Hanoi city and Hung Yen province. The route will pass the Ecopark urban area and districts of Van Giang, Yen My, Khoai Chau, Hung Yen province; connecting to Highway 39 and Hanoi –Hai Phong expressway at Ly Thuong Kiet intersection, connecting to the road linking Hanoi – Hai Phong expressway to Cau Gie – Ninh Binh expressway.
“The route plays an important role such as connecting directly the South East of Hanoi to Hung Yen province, reducing the vehicle volume on Highway 5, shortening the traveling time between Hanoi and Hung Yen from 60km to 40km, promoting the economy-social development of Hung Yen and other adjacent provinces such as Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Thai Binh and Ha Nam”, Mr. Phong said.
However, the leader of Hung Yen People’s Committee also acknowledged that the recent route that was invested and constructed before, has many sections severely degraded. It is about 6km from Thanh Tri bridge to Van Giang Town (Van Giang district) with road Grade II and the remaining section Van Giang Town to Dan Tien intersection on Highway 39 (Khoai Chau district) with road Grade III.
“Recently, the traffic flow has highly increased, some sections passing Van Giang Town and the crowded resident areas have been congested. Therefore, the investment, construction and upgrading the route is necessary”, the Chairman said.
Since the Hung Yen provincial budget is limited, the People’s Committee suggests the Prime Minister to approve and allocate budget and allow the investment, construction and upgrading the intercity Hanoi – Hung Yen with total investment of VND 900 billion during period of 2016-2020.
