KEPCO, the Korea Electric Power Corp., said its board of directors approved its participation in Vietnam's Vung Ang2 coal-fired power plant construction project.
The project will cost $2.2 billion to build two 600㎿ coal power plants in Ha Tinh province, and the project will be carried out in the first half of next year.
The project is expected to pick up speed as the company has decided to acquire a 40 percent stake held by the existing CLP, according to the report.
Industry insiders and outsiders predict that the entry of KEPCO will continue for Korean EPC companies to enter related businesses.
